On Saturday, 10 people died, and 10 others were wounded after a gunman began shooting during Lunar New Year celebrations. This occured in Southern California’s Asian American enclave of Monterey Park.
The suspect is still at large, and no motive behind the massacre is known.
The incident occured at a ballroom dance studio. Detectives are investigating and looking at camera surveys footage from the scene.
Ten people were killed at the establishment while ten others were transported a medical facility with “critical to stable stab injuries.”
The male suspect left the location, and more information about him isn’t known at this time.
Police are also reviewing whether the shooting was connected to another occurrence in the nearby city of Alhambra.
The shooting happened after thousands of people had come together for a Lunar New Year Festival in Monterey Park. The city is comprised of about two-thirds of Asian Americans.
Police will be investigating to determine if the incident was a hate crime.
