In Oklahoma, a 12 year-old boy has died from participating in the “blackout challenge,” that has become popular on TikTok.

On Monday, authorities responded to a call where the boy was discovered with ligature marks around the neck.

The family told police that the boy was trying to take part in the “blackout challenge” and not trying to commit suicide.

The boy was transported to a medical facility but died just before 7am on Tuesday.

The “blackout challenge” has already been strongly opposed by doctors. They stated that this dangerous trend can result in seizures and death. The trend has people to record themselves holding their breath or choking themselves until they are no longer conscious.

At least 3 other youths have allegedly died this year from the challenge.

TikTok does not conde this behavior and said they have, “no higher priority than protecting the safety” of their users.
