Police received a call about an assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles. They then received additional calls indicating there was a shooting in progress near a shopping center.

Officers arrived at the location and began looking for a gunman. Their search and foot-chase led them to a Burlington Coat Factory that was full of customers. Officers find the suspect and open fire, striking him. They call the EMTs for assistance after he is hit.

When the Los Angeles Fire Department responded they declared two people dead at the scene.
One of the people who died was the suspect, who was killed by police. The second person was a 14-year-old girl found later in the dressing room.

Officers were shooting at the suspect inside of the store when one of the officer’s rounds went behind the suspect and pierced a wall. Beyond that wall was a dressing room where the girl had been fatally struck by the gunfire.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and surveillance footage will be reviewed. No further details were immediately available.
