A 15-year-old was fatally shot three times in the back on Monday afternoon.
Sheryl Tyrone, a grandmother who lives in a neighborhood on the west side of San Antonio, heard the gunshots around 3 p.m.
Soon after, a 12-year-old boy ran to Sheryl’s home and knocked on her door for help. The boy told her that his brother had been shot and to call 911.
Sheryl immediately called 911 and rushed over to the teenager, trying to save him. She was trying to help the 15-year-old breathe despite his mouth and nose being covered in blood.
When she investigated his wounds, she saw that he had been shot in the back three times.
San Antonio Police said the teen lived in the neighborhood and was meeting up with someone. An argument then escalated to the 15-year-old getting shot and killed. Investigators believe the argument may have had to do with money.
Police Chief William McManus addressed San Antonio’s recent wave of gun violence following the incident. He expressed his concern about people solving their disputes with gunfire.
According to McManus, two teenagers have been detained, but no firearm has been recovered.
There still have not been any arrests in the case.
Several gunshots can be heard on security camera footage from a neighbor’s house, but police are unsure how many shots were fired.
