Diamond Alvarez, 15, was struck with 22 bullets, in the back, on Sunday night while walking her family’s dog in Southwest Houston.
On Tuesday evening, the teen exited her home around 8 p.m., and police were summoned to a location around 9:30 p.m.
Law enforcement officers found her with multiple gunshot injuries. Diamond was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Relatives told authorities that they heard gunfire outside of their residence and became concerned. They attempted to reach the girl but were unsuccessful.
A witness heard multiple gunshots and screeching tires from a dark car, driving away from the location.
The mother and stepfather searched for her. They only found the dog, Peanut.
They eventually discovered Diamond a few blocks down the street, in a field, and tried to give her CPR but weren’t successful. She and her boyfriend are said to have a disagreement prior to her death.
Diamond was described as a sophomore, honor student who walked her dog everyday and desired to go to cosmetology school.
Police are continuing to look at camera footage to help identify who is responsible for her death.
