Close to 10:30 p.m., on Wednesday, a teenage driver refused to pull over during a traffic stop in Garland, Texas.

The driver went across a DART train track on Garland Ave. This was as the red lights were flashing, and the crossing arms had been down.

Authorities say that officers didn’t cross the tracks immediately but hesitated until the train had gone by to continue their pursuit.

A little while later, officers observed the vehicle involved wrecked at Garland Ave and Avenue B.

The driver of the car had seemingly attempted to go through a red light and struck another car.

All five people in the wreck were injured and transported to medical facilities.

A 16-year-old who was riding in the suspect’s car succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

Zayvion Smith, an 18-year-old from Dallas, has now been charged with murder.
