On Wednesday morning, a 16-year-old girl was discovered fatally shot in a stolen car that had been abandoned. Authorities think that this may be connected to a teen that had been missing for three weeks.
Close to 10 a.m., authorities responded to a call in the 8800 block of Burnett. Someone had called police regarding a car in the alley, and a woman who may have been deceased.
Police then found the teen who had several gunshot injuries.
The Detroit Police Commander stated that the victim was in a 2013 Chevy Malibu. Close to that same time frame that authorities were investigating this incident, authorities released a statement about a stolen 2013 Malibu.
In that statement, police said that a woman was picked up by a 20-year-old man in his 2013 Chevy Malibu. He drove to the 23700 block of Clarita. The woman then requested that he stop. She exited the vehicle to use the restroom after that.
As she was walking away, police say that two men with guns then approached the vehicle and robbed and took the man’s car. The man did as he was told, and the two suspects and the woman got into the vehicle and left.
Police say that the teen matches the description of a girl they had been searching for but couldn’t validate her name. Police had been investigating that same teen in relation to the carjacking on Monday evening.
Relatives of the teen haven’t been identified. As of now, she is listed as Jane Doe.
