On Friday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, in Florida, stated that a sting operation called, “Operation Fall Haul II,” resulted in them locating at least two sex trafficking victims.
It ended with 160 people arrested, including a Georgia police officer, Jason DiPrima.
When thinking about more potential victims, Sheriff Grady Judd commented on the matter.
“Our goal is start services the moment that they are taken into custody and to treat them as what they are, victims, not as suspects in a criminal event,” he stated.
The same operation has also led to the apprehension of two Disney workers, a state corrections officer, multiple teachers, and former Officer DiPrima.
The Cartersville Police Department, in Georgia, reported that DiPrima, who was deputy police chief, quit his job on Thursday. This came after he was put on administrative leave until the results of an investigation were reached.
Also arrested was Cameron Burke, a high school IT expert. He was caught soliciting a prostitute. He had been out on bond after being apprehended for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Carlos Gonzales, a math teacher, and John Layton, a physical education teacher, were arrested during the bust, as well.
