17 Year Old Teen Facing Capital Murder Charges In Connection To The Death Of A 3 Month Old In Dallas

A 17 year old is facing capital murder charges for the death of a 3 month old baby in Dallas.
According to reports Tynia Johnson,17 was babysitting Ashton Smith on February 16 and around 2pm she contacted the child’s mother and told her the baby wasn’t feeling well.
James Pedyfoot, who is the child’s great uncle went to pick up the child from the 11000 block of Walnut Hill Lane before picking up the mother and taking the child to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite.
Doctors told the mother that the child was suffering from severe brain injury and a fracture in his skull, which was consistent with blunt force trauma.
Ashton was transported to Children’s Medical Center Dallas where he remained hospitalized for 3 days before being pronounced dead.
Pedyfoot told doctors and authorities that the infants breathing was irregular and his arms were stiff when he picked him up from Johnson.
Johnson was later arrested and remains in Dallas County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
