A 2 year old Waco boy is dead after he accidentally shot himself in the head with a family members gun Wednesday.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 6pm at the University Club apartments on the 1700 block of N Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Upon arrival officers found a 2 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
He was immediately rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to reports the toddler found the gun in his uncle Derrick Pipkins,21 backpack and began playing with it.
The gun went off striking the boy in the head.
Pipkins fled the scene before officers could arrive but later came back.
He was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.
