A crane collapsed into an apartment building in downtown Dallas Sunday afternoon killing a woman and injuring 5 other people.
According to reports a crane collapsed into Elan City Lights apartments Sunday afternoon during a heavy thunderstorm that caused strong winds and heavy rains.
Kiersten Smith,29 was a resident in the building and was killed when the crane collapsed into her apartment building.
The crane collapsed through a 5 story building also causing damage to the parking garage.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and 5 others were transported to a nearby hospital with 2 listed in stable condition, 2 with serious injuries and one was discharged from the hospital the same night.
The crane is owned by a company based out of California called Bigge Crane and Rigging Co.
Over 500 residents have been placed in hotels and given food vouchers. It is unclear when they will be able to return home.
