A man was severely beaten by a homeowners stepson after attempting to break into their home and rob them in Baton Rouge.
According to reports officers responded to a shooting call on the 5000 block of Cheryl Dr and when they arrived they found Darvion Lathers beaten up in front of the home.
The homeowner then told police that the suspect knocked on his door and then tried to force his way in the home with a gun.
The homeowners son then fought Lathers off until officers arrived.
Two other suspects Rayshawn Rogers and Jarred Hopkins were waiting in a car and opened fire when they saw the altercation.
Hopkins was accidentally shot while him and Rogers tried to flee and both men were arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of a weapon and principal to attempted armed robbery.
Lathers was also arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, attempted armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon.
