22-Year-Old Sentenced To 45 Years For The Fatal Shooting Of 9 Year Old Brandoniya Bennett
Davonte Benton, 22, has been found guilty and been sentenced to 45 years in prison by a Dallas County Jury for murder.
On August 14, 2019, 9-year-old Brandoniya Bennett was sitting on her couch in her townhome on the 3500 block of Munger Avenue right before shots were fired through her home.
Benton was getting into a fight next door to Bennett’s townhome. Once the fight broke up Benton ran around to the back of the townhomes. He then fired several shots inside the wrong home fatally shooting Bennett in her head.
“The murder of this child remains a senseless and unimaginable tragedy. While nothing can bring Brandoniya back, I am thankful we are able to send the message that this kind of violence will not be tolerated in Dallas County,” said Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot.
