On January 3, around 6 p.m. officers responded to a shooting call on the 2600 block of Walnut Hill Lane.
Once officers arrived they found the victim, Clayton Hartfield Jr, suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died from his injuries.
During the preliminary investigation officers learned that Hartfield and the suspect got into a physical fight that escalated. The suspect then fled the scene before officers could arrive.
After further investigating on January 4, police learned that 23 year old Justin Blocker was responsible for the fatal shooting.
Blocker was booked into the Dallas County Jail for murder and remains in custody on a $250,000 bond.
