On Thursday night, a shooting occurred outside of Cornerstone Church in Ames, Iowa.

Authorities say that close to 6:50 p.m., they had gotten several calls. Two women and a male assailant are dead. The suspect is said to have shot the two people in the church parking lot and then killed himself.

Crime scene tape could be seen surrounding the parking lot, as well as, ambulances and other first responder vehicles.

“There was a program going on. We do have other individuals inside of the church. We do not have any other information at this point if anybody else was injured in this. We are working through the process of investigating the incident and speaking with the others inside the church,” Captain Nick Linnie of the Story County Sheriff’s Office had stated.

Governor Kim Reynolds said that the shooting was an “act of senseless violence.”
