On Friday, a 3-year-old boy, in Detroit, Michigan, was discovered deceased in a freezer. Neighbors disclosed that the child was blind. Additionally, his relatives stated that they called Child Protective Services 13 times since January. However, CPS was never permitted inside the home.

Detroit Police Chief James White said that the child, who is said to be Chase Allen, was decomposing in the freezer of the family’s residence.

“She (the mother) couldn’t deal with it. We all said give him to us if you can’t deal with it,” a family member said. Not only was Chase blind, but he also had other unidentified disabilities, as well.

Neighbors stated that the child hadn’t been seen since March. “First, she said that he was in the hospital, and she gave him away. Then, she said a couple had him–just too many stories not making sense,” a family member said.

On Friday afternoon, two officers who first arrived at the home noticed that something wasn’t right during a welfare check. Subsequent to speaking with people at the residence, they attempted to get the officers to leave. However, officers dialed their supervisor and CPS.

Later, the 3-year-old was discovered in then basement freezer of the home.

Authorities have confirmed that Chase’s mother, a 30-year-old who hasn’t been identified, was apprehended.

Also, 5 other children were found living in the residence, where conditions were said to be deplorable.

Neighbors stated that they tried to offer assistance to the mother, but she wouldn’t accept it.

“She had her kids taken away from her before and got them back,” a family member added.

Police say that they aren’t clear how long Chase had been in the freezer or if any of his siblings were aware that he was in there.
