31 year old woman who admitted to statuatory rape and being impregnanted by 13-year-old child will not face jail time
Andrea Serrano is a 31-year-old woman who admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old boy’s child and becoming pregnant with his child will serve no jail time due to a plea deal.
Serrano was facing sexual assault charges after her arrest in 2022 but accepted this new plea deal to stay out of prison earlier this year.
Serrano gave birth to a baby boy after she admitted to having sex with the 13-year-old. The mother of the victim is not happy with the deal offered to a woman she says ruined her son’s life.
“I feel like if she was a man, and he was a little girl, it would definitely be different,” the victim’s mother said. “They would be seeking more. I feel like because he is not a woman, they are not. They are having compassion for her.”
Serrano was arrested in June of 2022 on felony charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child.
Serrano allegedly admitted to police that she had sex with the teenager, who remains unidentified due to his age, and they detained her in El Paso County Criminal Justice Center while her case has remained ongoing.
But now she might go free and face no jail time for her crime after agreeing to a plea deal with prosecutors. The original charges were dropped to a lesser offense that does not require jail time.
The deal would require Serrano to register as a sex offender. She faces a requirement of 10 years to life on sex offender intensive supervised probation.
The victim’s family is looking at the next steps in the case because Serrano’s actions have permanently changed his life.
“I feel like my son is robbed of his childhood. Now he’s having to be a father. He’s a victim, and he’s going to have to live with that for the rest of his life,” said the victim’s mother.
The victim’s mother has demanded an explanation on why Serrano faces no time in jail for her crime. The family plans to seek sole custody of the baby fathered by the 13-year-old victim.
