Kache Wallis, 4, was said to have been missing, but was discovered dead after a search of his residence. Now, authorities have said that he died from asphyxiation.

Law enforcement first learned of the case after a call from his grandmother. She said that she had tucked him into bed the prior night. In the morning, she couldn’t find him any where in the house. When officers arrived, they couldn’t find the boy either.

Authorities sent out an alert and the community began looking for the boy, as well. Then, they decided to search his home again. Kache was discovered in a small toy chest in his room. Moreover, the family was interrogated, and the medical examiner investigated further.

“Our sincerest condolences are sent to Kache and his family,” the City of Hurricane, Utah Police Department said in a statement. They also showed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the search.
