In the US last week, there were 915 shootings, resulting in 430 deaths.
These numbers reveal the rise in gun violence across the nation. The number of deaths from gun violence at this point in 2021 is 24,000. It is expected to surpass the 43,000 deaths from gun violence in 2020.
Out of the 24,00 deaths, 800 were minors under 18. 174 of those deaths were children under the age of 12.
Some of these occurrences were from mass shootings. Just this week, 18 mass shootings transpired in 12 cities, killing 19 people and injuring 74 others.
The majority of the gun violence has occurred in Illinois (109), Texas (63), Pennsylvania (59), California (52), and New York(48).
July 18 was the day most violence from guns took place. Additionally, 22% of the gun-related incidences happened between midnight and 3am.
Furthermore, 13,500 gun-related suicides and domestic disputes are a part of the gun violence numbers.
