A 6-year-old boy took his parents car and drove it to a toy store. His 3-year-old brother was a passenger in the vehicle.

The incident ended when the 6-year-old crashed the vehicle into a lamppost.

On Tuesday, the children’s mother was in the bathroom, and their father had been sleep when the boys took the Toyota Vios, close to 11 p.m., in Langkawi, a Malaysian island. They had gotten about 1.5 miles away from their home.

The 6-year-old suffered a laceration on his chin, and the 3-year-old wasn’t harmed when the 6-year-old lost control of the vehicle and wrecked.

Witnesses had first believed that the driver was drunk because of the recklessness and the swerving of lanes that were observed. However, a dash cam recording showed otherwise.

The boys disclosed to authorities that they knew what they wanted to do. Authorities also learned that the 6-year-old knew how to start a vehicle.

“We are going to the shop. Mama is at home,” the 6-year-old said to other drivers. “We want to buy the black car,” his little brother added.

Reports indicate that the children’s parents have been interviewed by police.
