60 Year Old Woman Fatally Shot During Attempted Robbery In Little Saigon Community

1.1kviews

Friends and family of a 60-year-old Asian woman who was shot multiple times in the Little Saigon community believe the attack was racially motivated.

Lili Xu had just celebrated her 60th birthday a few weeks before she was gunned down while on her way to a massage parlor in Oakland, California.

The Oakland Police Department confirmed the shooting happened Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m. in the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue.

Xu was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Authorities have labeled the incident as an attempted robbery, however; friends and family of the victim say it was an attack driven by racial discrimination.

The shooting comes just a few days after a separate incident where an Asian woman was shot and killed inside her Little Saigon home.

City leaders are calling for change and have demanded there be an increase in patrol for the safety of Little Saigon members and businesses.
