81-Year-Old Man Arrested After Killing Wife, Daughter With An Ax

On March 25, 81-year-old Reginald MacLaren called authorities to inform them that his wife and daughter had died, in Arapahoe County, Colorado.

The deceased have been identified as Bethany MacLaren, 70, and Ruth MacLaren, 35. Investigators discovered their bodies in garbage bins with a handsaw close by. There was also an ax found in a closet.

Authorities say that MacLaren disclosed to them that he premeditated a deadly attack after becoming unemployed 10 days before the incident. This was because he didn’t want his family to be homeless, he stated.

MacLaren has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of tampering with a deceased human body, and false reporting to law enforcement officials. He is being held without bond.

Court documents show that MacLaren wasn’t remorseful for murdering his wife and daughter with an ax because they are better off now.
