85 Year Old Man Arrested And Charged With Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon

An elderly man was arrested Wednesday night after he shot and injured his neighbor through the screen door.
Officers were called to a shooting on the 14000 block of VZCR 4811.
Upon arrival they found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound in the abdomen.
He was transported to a Tyler hospital in critical condition.
According to reports the victim and his family routinely stopped by unannounced to Huey Edward Nichols,85 home to check on him.
Sheriff Hillhouse says Nichols fired a single round .38 revolver through the screen door striking the victim.
Nichols told authorities he felt threatened.
Detectives say there were no signs of forced entry or a struggle.
Nichols was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and remains in Henderson County Jail.
