A man intentionally struck and killed a county deputy with his car on Friday. He is also the father of a teenager who was shot and killed by a Cincinnati police officer the day prior while responding to a report of a stolen vehicle.

Authorities believe the crash was deliberate. The driver, 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr., faces charges of aggravated murder related to the deputy’s death.

This event unfolded just hours after he watched police footage of the fatal encounter involving his son. Ryan Hinton was shot after brandishing a firearm at officers during the investigation of the stolen vehicle, and a gun was found at the scene. However, there is no evidence that he fired it.

The unnamed deputy was managing traffic outside the University of Cincinnati graduation ceremony when he was fatally struck around 1:00 PM local time on Friday.

During a court hearing on Saturday, prosecutors argued that Mr. Hinton “calculatedly and premeditatedly aligned his car, deliberately accelerated, and intentionally caused the death of an on-duty deputy sheriff.”

Furthermore, two other teenagers were arrested in connection with the same incident.

The judge has ordered Hinton Jr. to be held without bond at the Clermont County jail until his next hearing on May 6.
