A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old.

On July 16, 2025, at approximately 8:39 p.m., the North Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight at Midlothian Community Park, located at 3601 S. 14th Street. Several witnesses described two males arguing near the baseball fields in the parking lot, and noted that the altercation turned violent when one of the individuals produced a knife. Reports indicated that one person was cut before the fight concluded.

Midlothian patrol officers responded quickly, arriving at the park by 8:43 p.m. They learned that the suspect had fled the scene with three others. The victim, later identified as 17-year-old Dylan Almanza of Ennis, was brought by friends to Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, then transferred to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center for further treatment.

Investigators from the Midlothian Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to both the scene and the hospital. After interviews and evidence collection, they identified the suspect as 18-year-old Christopher Robert Nienhuis, a Midlothian resident. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was located at his home on Brook Meadow Drive. Members of the Warrant Service Team took Nienhuis into custody at 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

He faces charges including two counts of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Dylan Almanza remains in serious but stable condition.
