An investigation is ongoing in Dallas following a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m. on July 27, 2025, off-duty officers responded to the 10700 block of Finnell Street after hearing gunfire.

Initial reports indicate that as officers approached the area, they observed a suspect and a victim fighting in a parking lot. The suspect was armed with a gun, and despite officers’ loud commands for him to drop the weapon, he refused and tried to escape.

Additional officers confronted the suspect, who continued to hold the firearm. After several orders to surrender, an officer fired, striking the suspect.

No officers were hurt during the incident.

The victim, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the face, was treated at the scene.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office was notified, responded, and will lead its own investigation.
