A woman from Louisiana has been charged with a felony for allegedly fraudulently obtaining Medicaid benefits while earning over $9 million in business income.

Candace Taylor, 35, of Slidell, was taken into custody and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on July 28.

She is accused of using deception, concealment, and withholding essential information to apply for and receive Medicaid benefits.

According to investigators, Taylor first applied for Medicaid in May 2019 under the alias “Candace Sailor,” claiming her income was $1,900 every two weeks and that she had no dependents. Although her initial application was denied, she reapplied in 2020 using the same alias.

Records reveal that Taylor operated several businesses from January 2020 through December 2024, generating more than $9.5 million across multiple accounts she controlled.

Following her Medicaid approval, bank records show deposits exceeding $480,000 and payments over $45,000 to Audi Finance. Authorities also discovered that she withdrew six-figure sums via cashier’s checks to pay for cosmetic surgeries, jewelry, real estate, and luxury services.

Additionally, Taylor is accused of transferring $100,000 to an exotic car dealership and authorizing a $13,000 purchase with a debit card for a 2022 Lamborghini.

An arrest warrant has been issued, and she faces charges of government benefits fraud.
