Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was detained Thursday following a warrant issued by Montgomery County.
Sources say that Ward, 34, was arrested for breaching a condition of his $30,000 bond from an earlier June arrest.
He was initially taken into custody on June 12 after his fiancée alleged that he assaulted, strangled, and threatened her.
As part of his bond agreement, Ward was prohibited from consuming alcohol or controlled substances and was required to undergo regular urine screenings, among other conditions.
His attorney, Steve Jackson, explained that Ward simply violated a bond condition from his original arrest, turned himself in voluntarily, and is not facing any new criminal charges.
