
Garland police are investigating the death of an inmate found unresponsive in his cell over the weekend.
31-year-old William Hunter Kimbrough, a resident of Allen, TX. was taken into custody on August 8 and booked into Garland Detention Center on charges of possessing between 4 and 200 grams of fentanyl and evidence tampering.
The following day, he reported feeling unwell and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. After receiving treatment, he was released and returned to detention.
On August 10, during a routine security check, the inmate was discovered unresponsive and was once again transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Garland Police Department is working in coordination with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Public Integrity Unit and the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
No additional details have been released at this time as this investigation remains ongoing.
