430views

A man from McKinney has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for violating firearms laws in Texas.

On August 14, 2025, 32-year-old Joe Anthony Plascencia pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition despite a prior felony conviction. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III, sentenced him to 137 months in federal prison.

Court records indicate that Plascencia was arrested after police responded to a report of suspicious activity at a Plano business. Officers found multiple firearms, including a pistol and a hunting rifle, along with a large camo bag, ammunition, and body armor. Further investigation verified that, as a convicted felon, he was legally barred from owning or possessing guns and ammunition.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America.

This case was investigated by the Plano Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chalana A. Oliver.
