
Over the weekend, Jasper and Newton County Sheriffs arrested several individuals suspected of involvement in a dogfighting ring.
On November 22nd, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Newton County deputies and other law enforcement agencies, executed a search warrant related to an active dogfight in Newton County. The warrant was served at a property off FM 1004 in the Call community. When authorities arrived, they discovered two dogs engaged in a fight inside a ring. A large crowd dispersed into nearby wooded areas, but most of the suspects were subsequently detained. In total, 45 arrests were made. Additionally, law enforcement seized over $73,000 and towed more than 35 vehicles from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
