Should Texas consider implementing similar social media restrictions for minors

72views

Virginia is preparing to enforce new restrictions on the amount of time children can spend on social media, but social media companies are currently contesting its enforcement in federal court.

Beginning January 1, Virginia-based social media platforms will be required to limit usage for users under 16 to one hour per day unless parental consent is provided.

The law, already signed by Governor Glenn Youngkin, is facing a legal challenge in Virginia’s Eastern U.S. District Court, with opponents questioning whether these social media restrictions violate minors’ rights.

Meanwhile, social media firms associated with the online business group NetChoice are petitioning the U.S. District Court in Alexandria for an injunction to halt the law, claiming it is unconstitutional.
