On July 1, the district began to report the positive cases of students on their website. The numbers began to increase once school started.
From Friday to Monday, the number rose by 62.
The biggest group seems to be at Sachse High School. 22 students have been said to have the virus. 8 students have already had it.
In the district right now, 0.5% of students and 0.6% of staff have been infected.
Garland ISD has not publicly spoken on the matter. At this time, no student is known to be hospitalized.
“It’s inevitable that it’s going to spread in schools,” the director of the Garland Health Department said. “The morale of the story, I guess, is get vaccinated or get Delta.”
