A man was killed in a McDonald’s drive thru early Wednesday morning during a freak accident.
Vancouver Fire Rescue called Vancouver police to a McDonald’s location at Main St and Terminal Ave regarding a single vehicle accident.
The accident happened around 5:30am when the man was in the drive thru paying for his food.
During that time he dropped his debit card.
As he opened his car door and attempted to pick up the card, the car was still in drive and pinned him against a structural piece of the building.
Vancouver firefighters attempted to save the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vancouver police spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said in a statement, “This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man.”
The VPD and B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
