On Wednesday, the body of a 24-year-old mother was discovered, in a vehicle’s trunk, after she went missing days ago, in Texas City, Texas.

Angela Leann Mitchell’s phone was last pinged to a residence in the Lago Mar community, close to 10 p.m., on May 5. After the mother of four didn’t return home, she was reported missing on May 6.

Her location was tracked to Texas City, that day, and her vehicle was located, but Mitchell wasn’t.

“I met police officers at her vehicle. I begged them to please search my daughter’s car…they just dismissed me,” stated Angela’s mother, Georgia Mitchell. Many who knew Mitchell are questioning why it took police so long to take the matter seriously.

On Wednesday, Mitchell’s body was found after residents on 4th Street North contacted authorities, around 2:30 p.m. They had stated that a strong odor was coming from a white Honda that had been left in the roadway since before Mother’s Day.

Once officials lifted the trunk, Mitchell’s body was discovered. Her cause of death hasn’t been determined.

On Thursday, the police department stated that a $5,000 reward may be available for any information about the case that results in an arrest or charges filed in the case.

Mitchell was a mom of two girls, ages 9 and 3, and two boys, ages 7 and 7-months-old. Georgia Mitchell expressed that the children are too young to comprehend what occurred. She added that her daughter had obstacles in her past, like prostitution, but she was working on herself.

An investigation is continuing.
