Many Stores Will Be Closed On Thanksgiving Day 2022, Including Walmart

Several stores are attempting to get into the holiday spirit and have released their plans for Thanksgiving.

This year, Walmart is one of the stores that won’t be open on Thanksgiving Day again, this year, including their supercenters and neighborhood market locations.

Additionally, Kohl’s, Target, and Best Buy have said that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2022, as well.

During the holiday in 2020, as the pandemic began, Walmart and Target cut out their limited store hours on Thanksgiving. They and other businesses have continued the practice recently.

Even though many other stores haven’t disclosed if they will keep their doors open on Nov. 24th, many probably won’t. Numerous retailers hope that their customers will do Thanksgiving shopping online.

Experts think that high inflation could have more families beginning to shop earlier than before as they try to get around higher prices at a later time.

Although some businesses won’t be open on Thanksgiving Day, some will open their doors early on Black Friday. Outdoor retailer REI stated that they have changed their guidelines to close their doors permanently on Black Friday. In a statement, they said that they hope that customers and their 16,000 workers would spend more opportunities outdoors, and they are willing to take a hit to their pockets for it to happen.

AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, thinks that holiday sales will increase to anywhere from 4% to 7%, much lower than last year’s increase of 16%.
