An Ohio man is facing murder charges after he allegedly attacked and killed a Dollar Tree employee with a machete.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Day a little before 4:30 p.m. when officers responded to a call on the 1100 block of Wyandot Ave regarding a man waving a machete.
When they arrived they found the victim, 22 year old Keris L. Riebel deceased inside the store.
While investigating the Sandusky police learned that 27 year old Bethel Manale Bekele walked into the store, approached Riebel and struck her several times with the machete. He then fled the scene before officers could arrive.
Bekele was spotted sitting inside a vehicle not far from the scene and taken into custody. He was charged with murder and held with no bond.
Investigators are working to determine a motive and to see if there was any relationship between the suspect and victim.
This investigation remains ongoing.
