Police Officer Injured And Suspect Dead After A Traffic Stop In Arlington

An officer in Arlington was injured and a suspect shot and killed late Friday night during a routine traffic stop that turned into a foot chase and ended in a shootout.
According to reports the incident took place near the 1700 block of W. Randol Mill Rd when an officer pulled a car over for a traffic violation.
The officer called for backup when noticing several individuals inside the vehicle. When backup arrived they asked everyone to step out the car and that’s when one of the male suspects took off running.
Officers chased the suspect through a grocery store parking lot before the suspect pulled out a gun and began firing at them. One officer was injured during the shooting and transported to a nearby hospital with his condition unknown and the suspect was shot by another officer and transported to a hospital where he later died.
This investigation is ongoing and the names of the officer and suspect have not been released.
