A man was found dead in his Desoto apartment last week and medical examiners say he has been dead for three years.
Ronald Wayne White who would’ve been 51 at the time of his death was a Navy veteran that loved to travel the world.
He lived in the Desoto Town Center apartments on E. Pleasant Run and his mother Doris Stevens told authorities that her son did a lot of traveling but would call her at least twice a month but said she became suspicious after contacting him on his birthday in April of 2017 and got no response.
She said she contacted Desoto police but they told her they couldn’t put out a missing person since he was known for traveling and being gone long periods at a time.
Maintenance crews were responding to a maintenance call at apartment 1320 and noticed the bolt lock and forced their way in.
Once inside the discovered White’s deceased body laying on the kitchen floor and medical examiners confirmed that he had been deceased for three years.
A spokesperson for the apartments released a written statement saying “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. White during this difficult time. Mr. White was frequently out of the country and his bills were paid through automatic withdrawals from his accounts. Our maintenance personnel discovered his body when they identified and responded to a service issue at his apartment. We are cooperating with the police as they investigate this incident.”
This investigation is ongoing.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
