A new area code has been approved by a Texas regulator to add a fourth area code for the DFW area.
The Public Utility Commission Of Texas has approved the addition of a 945 area code because of a shortage of telephone numbers using 972,214 and 469 area codes.
The new code is to be implemented sometime over the next 9 months.
