$1.4 billion of illegal narcotics were siezed by the United States Coast Guard who were partnering with Canadian military soldiers.

This is the first time the coast guard has made such a large seizure. Moreover, 59,700 pounds of cocaine and 1,430 pounds of marijuana were taken from smugglers in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Oceans.

Officials say that this was a big success in aiding in their battle to halt illegal drugs.

The captain and 150 sailors monitor the waters to help in the fight. Their last mission lasted two months. They have discovered two times the amount that they found on their last patrol.

The Atlantic Area Commander stated, “Drug trafficking organizations are ruthless and highly adaptable. We will remain adaptable, and we will never relent. We know that no nation can do it alone, and we are stronger together.”
