A Louisiana Airport Baggage Handler Dies After Her Hair Gets Stuck In Conveyor Belt At Louis Armstrong International Airport

5.1kviews

An investigation is underway in New Orleans after a 26 year old baggage handling supervisor died on the job.

The incident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, when 26-year-old Jermani Thompson’s hair got tangled in a belt loader at Louis Armstrong International Airport.

She was immediately rushed to the hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries. Although it is unclear what killed her, an autopsy will be performed by The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office.

Thompson worked for GAT, a company that performs ground services for airlines. Mike Hough, CEO of GAT, says the company’s leaders are “heartbroken and are supporting her family and her friends as best as we are able.”
