Afghanistan Refugees Headed To North Texas

1.2kviews

After Afghanistan has fallen to the Taliban, tens of thousands of refugees are coming to the US.

Additionally, special immigrant visas will be given to some. These include individuals who are translators or have assisted the US and its allies in picking out the enemy.

Some refugees will head to Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Austin. The number of people arriving in the US is expected to be 35,000.

Afghans who filled out an application for a special visa and those who have aided America’s military in any way in the past 20 years, will be given temporary housing from El Paso’s Fort Bliss.

Photos that have circulated have shown about 600 refugees running to get on a military cargo plane.

Housing is a major challenge. The US said that its goal is to provide ” immediate humanitarian response to meet the needs of people looking for help and hope coming to America.”
