Arlington Police Officer Robbed At QuickTrip By Gunpoint

3.2kviews

An officer of the Arlington Police Department was robbed at gunpoint and brutally beaten Wednesday morning. A ‘crime of opportunity” is what investigators are calling it.
The department says that it happened around 7am at a QuickTrip gas station at the corner of E. Division Street and N. Collins Street, not far from Arlington’s downtown area.
The officer had just finned his shift and was filling his car with gas when he saw a white 4-door sedan swerving throughout the pumps at the gas station, police Lt. Christopher Cook released in a statement. Cook mentioned the officer knew something was not right when he saw three men get out the vehicle and the fourth passenger got into the driver seat.
The officer, who’s identity has not been released, was then struck over his head and face area with a handgun, Cook said.
The suspects got away with the officer’s wallet and cellphone, mentioning the officer did not fight back until he aimed his personal gun at the getaway vehicle as it sped away from the gas station, Cook said.
However, no shots were fired and no other injuries we reported at the time of the incident. The officer was treated at the scene.
Investigators are saying they do not believe the perpetrators were aware that he was an officer because he was in a civilian jacket and they did not see his uniform shirt or gun belt in the back of his car.
The robbers appear to be in their late teens or early 20s.
More on this developing story once investigators are able to fully process the video footage taken from the QuickTrip gas station.
Anyone with information on who is responsible is urged to call police.
