Atlanta Rapper Silento Charged With Murdering Cousin

Silento, the rapper known for his hit single, “Watch Me Whip, Nae Nae” has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly murdering his cousin last month in Dekalb County.
According to investigators, the 23-year-old, whose real name is Ricky Lamar Hawk was detained on Monday. His cousin, 34-year-old Frederick Rooks, died from his injuries after being shot to death on Deep Shoals Circle on Jan. 21.
Police were dispatched to the scene around 3am. According to the arrest affidavit, a man called 911 after his daughter reported hearing gunshot wounds and say a body lying in the street.
Rooks had been found in the middle of the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene according to investigators.
At that time, they did not have any leads on who the suspect was, however, after a thorough investigation, officers identified the suspect as his cousin, and the person responsible for his murder.
During the investigation, police were able to obtain Ring video from several houses that showed multiple vehicles speeding away from the location. The video also captured a gunshot according to reports.
Right now, police are still investigation the motive that led to the murder.
This is not the first run in Hawk has had with police officers. He was also arrested back in September of 2020 for several alleged assaults in California after he was accused of trying to strike two people with a hatchet from previous reports.
In October 2020, he was also arrested for going 143 mph along Interstate 85. He reportedly told officers that he was driving that fast because he was being chased by 10 cars after leaving a night club in Gwinnett County. The reported speed limit was 65 mph.
