Atlanta Woman Creates First Pajamas Line Featuring Children Of Color

When it comes to raising healthy children, the most important part is building self-esteem by displaying positive representation. Simone Edmonson, the owner of Dreams and Jammies LLC, based in Atlanta, wanted to play a key role in transforming children of color and see themselves uniquely portrayed in their sleepwear as they drift off into heavenly dreaming.
“I wanted children of color to know that they’re valued and their faces matter,” said Edmonson. On average, a child spends upwards of 9 plus hours wearing their PJs a day. So then on Edmonson thought it would be inspiring for a child to showcase their individuality by choosing designs, which resonated with the child’s inner spirit. The significance the launch has made in the community of color was beautifully stated by buyer Denise Johnson from Baltimore, Maryland. “When I saw those beautiful black girls wearing Dreams and Jammies on my Instagram feed, I burst into tears. I initially did not know why I had this visceral reaction. Then it dawned on me that in the fifty – five years I have been living, I have never seen anything like this, so I purchased a pair for my grandchildren and great – nieces.
