Brooklyn Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who reportedly was robbed at gunpoint during a Sunday service last summer, was arrested Monday for fraud.

Whitehead, 45, the pastor at Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry was arrested Monday for allegedly lying and defrauding members of his congregation.

In 2020 he allegedly defrauded one of his parishioners out of $90,000 or her retirement savings money and promised to help her buy a home. Instead, he took the money and purchased expensive items for himself.

He also extorted $5000 from a businessman and attempted to get $500,000 from the same man in the spring Of 2022, in exchange for money on real estate deals.

To make things more complicated, Whitehead allegedly lied to federal agents claiming he only had one cellphone, when he in fact had two.

Whitehead was charged with wire fraud, attempted wire fraud, attempted extortion and making a material false statement. He was released on a $500,000 personal recognizance bond.

If convicted he could face up to 65 years in prison.
