A California man who was found living inside of O’Hare International Airport managed to go undetected for three months, according to multiple reports.
Aditya Udai Singh, 36, was arrested Saturday morning at O’Hare, and is charged with felony criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport, as well as misdemeanor theft.
According to Police, Singh claimed he was too afraid to fly back home to California due to Covid-19.
Reports states that Singh arrived at O’Hare International Airport from Los Angeles on Oct 19. And lived in the airport’s security zone since then.
On Sunday, Cook County Judge Susana Ortiz reacted incredulously after a prosecutor detailed the allegations.
“So, if I understand you correctly”, Ortiz stated, “you’re telling me that an unauthorized, nonemployee individual was allegedly living within a secure part of the O’Hare airport terminal from Oct. 19, 2020, to Jan. 16, 2021, and was not detected? I want to understand you correctly.”
Prosecutors also stated that two United Airlines employees stopped and asked him for credentials this weekend. He allegedly showed a badge that had been reported missing by an Operations Manager last October.
After the discovery, employees phoned 911, and Singh was taken into custody Saturday morning around 11:10 am in Terminal 2.
He is currently due back in court Jan. 27.
