Canadian Authorities Apologize For Mistaking Woman’s Badly Burnt Body For Mannequin And Throwing Away

Police and firefighters in Quebec mistakingly threw a woman’s badly burned body away and are publicly apologizing.
The incident happened on July 23 around 10am when firefighters responded to a brush fire in Sherbrooke at a local factory.
When they arrived witnesses told them that someone had burnt a silicone mannequin. They extinguished the fire and threw the burnt remains of what they thought were a mannequin in a dumpster.
A few hours later authorities received a call from a man about his missing girlfriend.
Authorities tracked the missing woman’s cellphone to the area and made the gruesome discovery.
Sherbrooke Police Chief Danny McConnell said during a press conference on Thursday, “We are obviously sorry for this situation and rest assured that the family was notified at every key point in the investigation.”
“Our hearts are with the family, her partner and the kids in this very tragic situation.”
