Capitol Riot Suspect Emmanuel Jackson Turns Himself In After Being Accused Of Hitting A Police Officer With A Bat

More arrests are being made in the attack on the U.S. Capitol. A man has been arrested on suspicion of being part of the attack and has admitted to attacking police officers with a baseball bat while trying to rush the building.
Emanuel Jackson is facing a number of multiple charges including assault on a federal law enforcement officer with a dangerous weapon; knowingly engaging in any acts of physical violence against any person or property in any restricted building or grounds; and knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
Jackson turned himself in to police on Jan.18, after images and videos of him at the U.S. Capitol were shared by authorities in an attempt to identify those responsible for the siege in which 5 people have reportedly died, including a police officer.
According to the arrest affidavit signed by Special Agent Rile Palmertree of the FBI, Jackson was the first of several to gain entry to the U.S. Capitol doorway at the Senate Wing entrance on the West side around 2:48 p.m. after the violent mob overpowered police officials.
Before that time, Jackson was seen on video footage repeatedly striking a U.S. Capitol officer while trying to enter the building by force.
At 4:50 p.m., the violent crowd, who were armed and dangerous with various weapons, continued to confront and assault police officers at the West Terrace entrance. Surveillance footage appeared to show Jackson, “repeatedly striking a group of both U.S. Capitol and Metropolitan Police Department uniformed officers” with a baseball bat that appeared to be metal.
After turning himself into police, Jackson admitted to “taking part in the violent protest, identified himself in the video and photographs shown to him by investigators of himself, and confessed to perpetrating the violent conduct,” according to the affidavit.
Jackson is one of many suspects who have been identified and arrested in connection with the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol that occurred on Jan. 6.
The FBI stated last week that they are still combing through more than 140,000 photos and surveillance footage which has been sent to them by the public as they continue to find the perpetrators.
“To those of you who took part in the violence, here’s something you should know: Every FBI field office in the country is looking for you,” FBI Washington Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Steven M. D’Antuono said in a statement released on Friday, Jan 15.
“As a matter of fact, even your friends and family members are tipping us off. So you might want to consider turning yourself in instead of wondering when we’re going to come knock on your door—because we will.”
